White-tailed Eagles on Mull

I have spent the morning catching up on some blogs and websites I haven’t visited in a while and saw that Martin of Mullcharters has posted a short video that was filmed for a BBC documentary.

Although the Eagle was not very close to the boat in the video, it does give some idea of the experience!

So, if you find yourself on Mull next Spring/Summer, I highly recommend that you book yourself on the Lady Jayne for a wild Eagle experience of a lifetime! I created the photo at the top of this post on the Lady Jayne.

Still busy, busy, busy here at the moment.  So, less words and more images :-)

These are from my recent trip to Mull, Scotland and a day on the Farne Islands.  The White-tailed Eagle images were from the “Lady Jayne”, a boat that runs from the Ulva ferry quay.  The owners, Martin and Judith, offer an excellent trip out to see the Eagles at very close quarters!  Visit their website, Mull Charters for details or read Martin’s blog.

Norfolk

I recently spent a few days in North Norfolk, concentrating on Snow Buntings and Barn Owls.  The Salthouse Snow Buntings put on an excellent show as usual with up to 70 birds present, coming to seed.

I have been regularly visiting a new spot for Barn Owls and finally managed to get the camera pointed at one!

Snow and some birds

I have managed to get out to wave the camera at some birds this year with a particularly productive short session at Salthouse on the 2nd January.  I woke that morning to find a fresh coating of snow, so headed to the beach to play with the Snow Buntings and Teal there.

Norfolk and Wheatears

I spent a day in North Norfolk, hoping to catch up with some waders and ducks in flight at Cley Marshes.

Well, the best laid plans and all that!  Not a lot of either within camera range and Salthouse beach car park was very busy with people.

I bumped into Nigel Pye and we spent a few hours with a couple of Northern Wheatear at Salthouse.  Click through to see more.
